DIY: Install Games on PS3

Installation of Games on PS3 is Easy but it is not possible on Official Firmware. Read this Article and follow the instruction to install HFW/HEN. Once you are finished, you can continue with this article.

This is a technical tutorial so things can go wrong. Do it at your own risk.

Setting up your PC

Most of the Games are larger than 4GB and you won’t be able to copy them to your flash. So we need to do it directly from our pc. You will need to download FileZila Client from its official site. Install it and you are ready to go.

Downloading games

There are a lot of websites available for PS3 Games download. Just make sure to download the right file. You can go to downloadgameps3 Or psndl.

You can download three types of files

1. RAR part files
2. iso files
3. pkg files

• If you download the RAR part files, copy all the parts in same folder and extract the first part. It will continue to extract other parts files in sequence as long as they are in the same directory.
• If you have downloaded ISO or PKG File you can use them directly. Please make sure to also download the RAP file. You won’t be able to play the game without it.

Copying Files

1. Once you have downloaded the game in the available format, Go to your PS3. From settings go to network settings and note the IP address from the status.
2. Next, go to the game and enable HEN.
3. Then go back to your pc and run FileZilla client.
4. Enter the IP address of your PS3 in the host and 21 in the Port and click quick connect. It will only connect if you have enabled HEN on your PS3.

5. Once connected select dev_hdd0. This is the internal hard drive of your PS3.

Then go copy the files as follows

1. If you have the extracted files in folder copy them in the GAMES folder
2. If you have ISO file copy it in the PS3ISO folder.
3. If you have a PKG file, copy it to the packages folder. It will take some time to copy. Then create a folder named exdata in dev_hdd0 and copy the RAP file into it. 

Installing Games

1. Once copied go to your PS3 and install as follows
2. If you have copied the PKG file, go to ✭Package Manager ⇨ Install Package Files ⇨ PS3 System Storage, there you will find the PKG file you copied. Just hit x and install it. Restart your console, Enable HEN. You will find the installed game on the game menu. When you execute it, you will be prompted to install the update. Just select no and hit x. and play.
3. If you have copied the ISO or Game Files, go to the game and open multiman. There you will find your copied Game. Mount it by hitting x. PS3 will go to the main screen. Go to games and there you will see the mounted game just hit x and play. You can also open it by going to webMAN Games ⇨ PLAYSTATION3.
